"Our Sweat, Our Sale, Our Success." Workers representing Nueva Vida Women's Sewing Cooperative in Nicaragua show off their products.

Sweatfree purchasing policies are meant to be used. When your school, city, or state adopts a policy to purchase goods made in humane conditions by workers who are paid decent wages it does not mean none of those goods will ever be made in sweatshops. Our policies are not foolproof. However, by adopting a sweatfree policy, your local institution has made a commitment to use its leverage to help improve conditions for sweatshop workers. We need to make sure they do just that.
